1 - SIRIA - 25 Giugno 2012. Dopo i giù precari equilibri politici degli ultimi tempi tra Siria e Turchia, i rapporti sono destinati a diventare sempre più tesi. Questa mattina, infatti, la contraerea siriana ha aperto il fuoco contro un jet militare turco che si era portato nello spazio aereo internazionale. L'abbattimento del velivolo è stato giustificato dal governo siriano affermando che in realtà esso aveva già oltrepassato il confine siriano, mentre Ankara ha immediatamente risposto che verranno prese dure sanzioni contro la Siria, invocando anche l'intervento della NATO affinchè vengano prese misure punitive a livello internazionale contro il regime di Assad.





SYRIA - June 25th, 2012. After the already precarious political balance in recent times between Syria and Turkey, the ratios are expected to become increasingly more tense. This morning, in fact, the Syrian air defense forces opened fire on a military turkish jet who was brought in international airspace. The demolition of the aircraft was justified by the Syrian government stating that in reality it had already crossed the Syrian border, while Ankara has responded immediately that tough sanctions will be taken against Syria, even invoking the intervention of NATO so that punitive measures will be taken internationally against the Assad regime.

2 - SOMALIA - 26 Giugno 2012. Ennesimo scontro tra forze governative e militanti del gruppo terrorista degli Shabaab. Si sono verificati questa mattina nella città di Badhadhe, nella regione del basso Giuba tra i miliziani islamici di al Shabaab e le forze alleate somale e kenyane: almeno otto i morti, decine i feriti. La battaglia è esplosa dopo che i fondamentalisti hanno attaccato con granate e mitragliatori basi miltari dell'esercito kenyano a Badhadhe, città al confine tra la Somalia e il Kenya, a circa 180 chilometri a sud della roccaforte di al Shabaab, Chisimaio.

SOMALIA - June 26, 2012. Yet another clash between government forces and militants of the terrorist group Shabaab. It occurred this morning in the city of Badhadhe, in the Lower Juba, between the Islamic militants of al Shabaab and allied Somali and Kenyan: at least eight dead, dozens injured. The battle erupted after the fundamentalists attacked with grenades and machine guns to the Kenyan military bases in Badhadhe, a city on the border between Somalia and Kenya, about 180 kilometers south of the stronghold of al Shabaab, Kismayo.

3 - BANGLADESH - 27 Giugno 2012. La pioggia battente degli ultimi giorni ha causato un vero e proprio disastro nella regione sud-orientale del Paese. Le infiltrazioni hanno provocato smottamenti del terreno che hanno dato vita a frane travolgenti, causando in tutto circa 90 morti ed un numero ancor più alto di feriti. Le vittime sono quasi tutte appartenenti ad abitanti di poveri villaggi. La protezione civile e l'esercito sono intervenuti in particolare nelle aree remote di Lama e Naikhanchhari del distretto di Bandarban, dove le difficoltà sono state più grandi.

L'attentato più grave è avvenuto in un mercato popolare nell'ovest di Baghdad, dove l'esplosione di un'autobomba ha provocato la morte di otto persone e il ferimento di altre 30. Ieri altre 11 persone erano state uccise nell'esplosione di tre bombe a Baghdad e a sud della città. Gli attentati non sono stati rivendicati da nessun gruppo terroristico, tuttavia sembra che anche in questo caso ci sia la mano di Al Qaida nell'azione.

IRAQ - June 28th, 2012. At least 12 people were killed and 40 others were injured today in a series of bomb attacks in Baghdad and points in the north of the Iraqi capital. The most serious attack occurred in a popular market in western Baghdad, where a car bomb caused the death of eight people and the injuring of 30 others. Yesterday, another 11 people were killed in the explosion of three bombs in Baghdad and in the south of the city. The attacks were not claimed by any terrorist group, but it seems that even in this case there is the hand of Al Qaeda.

5 – EGITTO – 29 Giugno 2012. Questa sera, ad una settimana dall'ufficialità dei risultati elettorali in Egitto, il neo-presidente Morsi, appartenente al partito dei Fratelli Musulmani, ha prestato un giuramento simbolico in piazza Tahrir durante il suo discorso. “Mi impegno a non danneggiare in alcun modo i diritti del popolo egiziano. Assicurerò i diritti e proteggerò tutti quelli che mi hanno eletto ma anche quelli che non mi hanno eletto. Non ci sarà nessuna discriminazione e nessuna differenza”.

EGYPT - June 29, 2012. Tonight, one week from the official election results in Egypt, the neo-elected President Morsi, belonging to the party of the Muslim Brotherhood, has sworn a symbolic oath in Tahrir Square during his speech. 6 - YEMEN - 30 Giugno 2012. Oltre 50 civili e 23 militari sono stati uccisi dall'esplosione di mine disseminate da al Qaida nel sud dello Yemen, in zone riconquistate dalle truppe governative il 13 giugno scorso dopo una lunga offensiva. "Oltre 50 cittadini sono stati uccisi dalle mine lasciate dai terroristi prima di fuggire da Zinjibar, Jaar e altre località", ha detto il ministero della Difesa. Inoltre, 23 militari, tra cui due ufficiali, sono stati anch'essi uccisi dalle mine.

YEMEN - June 30, 2012. More than 50 civilians and 23 soldiers were killed by the explosion of landmines planted by al Qaeda in the south of Yemen, in areas recaptured by government troops on June 13 last year after a long offensive. "Over 50 people were killed by mines left by the terrorists before fleeing from Zinjibar, Jaar and other places," said the Ministry of Defence. In addition, 23 soldiers, including two officers, were also killed by mines.

7 - MALI - 1 Luglio 2012. Non si placa la furia distruttrice del gruppo integralista islamico estremista Ansar Dine che oggi ha ripreso a demolire altri Mausolei di santi musulmani nella mitica città di Timbuctu, dopo averne distrutti tre nella giornata di ieri. Una dozzina di membri di Ansar Dine, muniti di scalpelli e picconi, si sono ritrovati al cimitero di Djingareyber, a sud di Timbuctu, dove si trovano almeno tre mausolei. Il gruppo legato ad Al Qaida vorrebbe riuscire a mantenere unito il Paese ma imporre una teocrazia basata sulla legge della sharia. Il governo ha fatto appello persino all'ONU affinchè possa aiutarlo a debellare il problema, visto che la città è Patrimonio dell'Umanità dell'Unesco, ricevendo l'appoggio di Ban Ki-Moon.

MALI - July 1, 2012. The destructive fury of fundamentalist Islamic extremist group Ansar Dine has now begun to demolish other mausoleums of Muslim saints in the mythical city of Timbuktu, after having destroyed three yesterday. A dozen members of Ansar Dine, armed with picks and chisels, gathered at the cemetery Djingareyber, south of Timbuktu, where there are at least three mausoleums. The group linked to Al Qaeda would be able to keep the country united but to impose a theocracy based on Sharia law. The government has appealed to the UN so that it can even help eradicate the problem, because the city is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, receiving the support of Ban Ki-Moon.

1 - EGITTO - 18 Giugno 2012. Al termine dello spoglio delle schede elettorali per il secondo turno delle elezioni presidenziali, secondo le fonti giudiziarie del Consiglio di Stato il candidato dei Fratelli musulmani, Mohamed Morsi, sarebbe in testa, tuttavia lo staff dell'altro candidato, Ahmed Shafiq, ha affermato che il candidato ex premier di Hosni Mubarak è avanti nello scrutinio dei voti ''oltre ogni dubbio'' al 51,5 – 52%. In ogni caso, in attesa dell'ufficialità dei risultati, il Consiglio militare egiziano rimetterà alla fine del mese il potere al presidente eletto durante una grande cerimonia che ''tutto il mondo potrà seguire''.

EGYPT - June 18, 2012. 2 - NIGERIA - 19 Giugno 2012. A seguito degli attentati alle chiese cristiane dei giorni scorsi, a cui per vendetta si sono succedute numerose violenze contro le comunità musulmane, sulla città di Damaturu, nel nordest della Nigeria teatro ieri di esplosioni e sparatorie, il governatore ha imposto il coprifuoco per 24 ore mentre colpi di arma da fuoco si susseguono anche oggi. Tuttavia gli scontri sembrano destinati a proseguire, visto che almeno 34 persone sono rimaste uccise in scontri tra polizia e presunti fondamentalisti islamici, i quali hanno reagito con violenza al tentato arresto di un membro della setta di Boko Haram.

NIGERIA - June 19, 2012. 3 - ISRAELE – PALESTINA - 20 Giugno 2012. Proseguono da ieri i raid israeliani sulla Striscia di Gaza. Sei miliziani, infatti, sono stati uccisi dall'esercito israeliano, provocando la reazione dei palestinesi con il lancio di razzi a ritmo crescente nella regione del Neghev. Dall'alba di oggi una quindicina fra Qassam e Grad sono caduti anche sulla costa a sud di Tel Aviv causando danni ma nessuna vittima. Israele, da parte sua, aveva condotto una nuova ondata di raid aerei sulla Striscia nella notte, colpendo almeno otto obiettivi. Nel pomeriggio, poi, un nuovo raid ha causato la morte di un giovane palestinese nella città di Rafah. La tensione, insomma, è destinata a salire nelle prossime ore.

ISRAEL - PALESTINE - June 20, 2012. Continuing from yesterday, the Israeli raids on Gaza Strip. 4 - PAKISTAN - 21 Giugno 2012. Nei giorni scorsi la Corte Suprema ha destituito il premier Yousuf Raza Gilani, stabilendo che l'Assemblea nazionale dovrà eleggere a maggioranza assoluta il nuovo presidente. Quest'oggi il vertice della coalizione di maggioranza del Pakistan presieduto dal presidente Asif Ali Zardari ha designato l'ex ministro dell'Industria tessile Makhdoom Shahabuddin come candidato. Tuttavia il pomeriggio stesso quest'ultimo ha ricevuto un mandato di arresto emesso da un magistrato della Forza antinarcotici (ANF), il quale lo accusa di aver emesso autorizzazioni irregolari per l'esportazione di efedrina pachistana all'estero nel 2010, quando cioè Shahabuddin era epoca ministro della Sanità. Ora il posto di candidato premier sarà occupato da Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.

Gli attentatori hanno utilizzato armi pesanti e bombe a mano, prendendo in ostaggio 40 persone per poi ingaggiare con le forze di sicurezza afghane e dell'Isaf una battaglia durata oltre 12 ore. Gli scontri si sono conclusi con un bilancio di almeno 20 morti, di cui 12 civili che partecipavano ad una festa di matrimonio.

AFGHANISTAN - June 22, 2012. An armed commando of Taliban last night attacked the hotel-restaurant Spozhmai on the edge of a lake near Kabul. The attackers used heavy weapons and grenades, taking 40 people hostage and then engage with the ISAF and Afghan security forces a battle lasting over 12 hours. The fighting ended with a budget of at least 20 dead, including 12 civilians attending a wedding party.

6 - PARAGUAY - 23 Giugno 2012. Il senato del Paraguay ha destituito il presidente Fernando Lugo approvando il processo di impeachment nei suoi confronti con 39 voti favorevoli, 4 contrari e 2 assenti. L'accusa per lui è di essere stato responsabile della morte di 17 persone la settimana scorsa in scontri fra polizia e contadini. Poco dopo la destituzione nella centrale Piazza delle Armi di Asuncion, dove fin dal mattino si sono radunati migliaia di simpatizzanti del capo dello Stato provenienti da tutto il Paese, per lo più contadini, sono scoppiati degli incidenti tra loro e la polizia.

PARAGUAY - June 23, 2012. The Senate has removed the president of Paraguay Fernando Lugo endorsing the impeachment process against him with 39 votes in favor, 4 against and 2 absent. In occasione dell'80esimo anniversario del colpo di stato che ha messo fine alla monarchia assoluta nel 1932, i circa 30mila manifestanti sono, secondo la polizia, per la maggior parte fedeli all'ex primo ministro in esilio Thaksin Shinawatra.

1 - MALI - 4 Giugno 2012. Nel Paese dominato ormai da mesi da conflitti e violenze di diversi movimenti, si è svolta nella città di Mbeiket Lahwach, nel sud-est della Mauritania, una riunione a cui hanno partecipato centinaia di maliani di fazioni diverse che cercano una strategia comune contro i jihadisti nel nord del Mali. Vi hanno preso parte anche ribelli tuareg del Movimento nazionale di liberazione dell'Azawad, che si batte per uno Stato sovrano e laico nelle regioni settentrionali del Mali. L'obiettivo comune è quello di debellare una volta per tutte i fondamentalisti islamici che da tempo rendono precaria la stabilità del Paese.

MALI - June 4, 2012. In a country dominated for months by conflicts and violence of various movements, the city of Mbeiket Lahwach, in the south-east of Mauritania, became theatre of a meeting attended by hundreds of Malians of different factions who are seeking a common strategy against the jihadists in northern Mali. In the meeting there were also Tuareg rebels of the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad , which is fighting for a sovereign and secular state in the northern regions of Mali. The common goal is to eradicate once and for all the Islamic fundamentalists who since long are obstaculating the country's stability.

2 - EGITTO - 5 Giugno 2012. Migliaia di persone si sono radunate oggi a piazza Tahrir in vista della mega manifestazione convocata dai movimenti rivoluzionari contro la sentenza al processo Mubarak e per contestare la presenza nel ballottaggio alla presidenziali egiziane dell'ultimo premier del rais, Ahmad Shafiq. Alla protesta hanno aderito i tre principali candidati alle presidenziali sconfitti al primo turno, l'islamico Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh, il nasseriano Hamdin Sabbahi e l'attivista Khaled Ali, tutti uniti nel considerare l'ultima tornata elettorale un'autentica farsa.

EGYPT - June 5, 2012. Thousands of people gathered today in Tahrir Square waiting for the mega event convened by the revolutionary movements against the judgment to the process of Mubarak and the Egyptian presence in the presidential run-off to the last Prime Minister Rais Ahmad Shafiq. The three main presidential candidates defeated in the first round joined the protest: the Islamist Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh, the Nasserian Hamdin Sabbahi and the activist Khaled Ali, all united in considering the last election a farce.

3 – REPUBBLICA DEMOCRATICA DEL CONGO - 6 Giugno 2012. Il bilancio conta circa 200 morti tra i ribelli del generale Ntaganda e di 40 tra i militari in un mese di scontri nella regione del Nord-Kivu, situata nella parte nord-orientale del Paese al confine con il Ruanda. I ribelli sono gli appartenenti al movimento denominato Congresso Nazionale per la Difesa del Popolo (CNDP), per la maggior parte di origini ruandesi, nel tentativo di crearsi un territorio autonomo dal governo congolese da una parte e ruandese dall'altra. Tra i ribelli ci sono stati circa 250 feriti, mentre 374 si sono arresi all'esercito. Nelle file dei militari, invece, oltre ai 40 morti ci sono anche un centinaio di feriti.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO - June 6, 2012. The budget amounts to about 200 deaths among the rebels of General Ntaganda and 40 among the military forces in a month of clashes in the region of North-Kivu, located in the northeastern part of the country on the border with Rwanda. The rebels are members of the movement called National Congress for the Defence of the People (NCDP), the majority of Rwandan origin, in an attempt to create an autonomous territory on the one hand by the Congolese government and Rwanda on the other. Among the rebels there were about 250 wounded, and 374 have surrendered to the Army. In the ranks of the military, however, in addition to 40 deaths there are a hundred injured.

4 - SOMALIA - 7 Giugno 2012. Continuano ormai senza tregua le violenze nel Paese provocate dal movimento fondamentalista islamico Shabaab. Violenti combattimenti sono segnalati in diversi villaggi nelle vicinanze della città di Afmadow, nella regione del basso Giuba (nel sud del Paese), sottratta ai miliziani ribelli dall'esercito regolare e dalle forze di difesa keniote nei giorni scorsi, dopo la mobilitazione dei Paesi africani per debellare il movimento. Addirittura i miliziani costringono i residenti, compresi ragazzi molto giovani e persino bambini, ad impugnare le armi per difendere le città da un attacco e per preparare una controffensiva contro gli eserciti somalo e kenyota. Centinaia di famiglie stanno infatti lasciando le loro abitazioni per evitare il reclutamento forzato.

SOMALIA - June 7, 2012. unabated violences are continuing in the country, caused by the Shabaab Islamist movement. Violent fightings have been reported in several villages near the town of Afmadow, in the Lower Juba (south of the country),which has been stolen from the regular army and rebel militia forces from the Kenyan defense in recent days, after mobilization of African countries to eradicate the movement. Even the militia forced the residents, including children and even very young babies to take up arms to defend the city from an attack and to prepare a counteroffensive against the Somali and Kenyan armies. Hundreds of families are in fact leaving their homes to avoid forced recruitment.

5 - PAKISTAN - 8 Giugno 2012. Sono 18 le persone morte e 42 quelle rimaste ferite a Peshawar nell'attentato di oggi ai danni di un autobus che trasportava dipendenti del governo della provincia di Khyber Pathunkhwa verso Charsada. Il mezzo è esploso ed è stato avvolto dalle fiamme, causando la morte anche di alcune donne e di un bambino. Gli autori dell'attacco sono quasi certamente i gruppi terroristici legati ad Al Qaida molto attivi sul territorio. Intanto, però, le Nazioni Unite hanno denunciato gli attacchi con gli aerei senza pilota (droni) lanciati dalla Cia nelle zone tribali pachistane proprio per colpire le sacche più agguerrite di questi militanti. A conclusione della sua visita a Islamabad, l'Alto Commissario dell'Onu per i Diritto Umani, l'indiana Navi Pillai, ha infatti dichiarato che "i raid con i droni sollevano seri dubbi sul rispetto del diritto internazionale".

PAKISTAN - June 8, 2012. There are 18 people dead and 42 injured in Peshawar in the today's attack against a bus carrying employees of the government of the province of Khyber Pathunkhwa to Charsada. The vehicle exploded and was engulfed in flames, causing the death of even a few women and a child. The perpetrators are almost certainly linked to al-Qaida terrorist groups , very active in the area. Meanwhile, however, the United Nations has denounced the attacks by unmanned aircraft (drones) launched by the CIA in Pakistan's tribal areas to strike at its strongest concentration spots of these militants. At the conclusion of his visit to Islamabad, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Indian Navi Pillai, has declared that "the raid with the drones raises serious doubts about compliance with international law".

6 - LIBIA - 9 Giugno 2012. Arriva oggi l'ufficialità dello slittamento delle prime elezioni libere nel Paese mediterraneo. Le elezioni dell'assemblea costituente previste inizialmente per il 19 giugno, infatti, sono state rimandate a luglio per ragioni logistiche, come hanno annunciato alcuni membri della Commissione elettorale secondo i quali la decisione è stata presa per dare tempo ai candidati bocciati di presentare appello. Sono state proposte più date tra le quali quella del 7 luglio, ma il voto potrebbe addirittura slittare ad agosto, dopo il ramadan.

LIBYA - June 9, 2012. Today is official the slip of the first free elections in the Mediterranean country. In fact, the Constituent Assembly elections initially planned for June 19 have been postponed to July for logistical reasons, as they have announced some members of the Election Commission according to which the decision was made to allow time for candidates to appeal rejected. More dates have been proposed including that of July 7, but the vote could even slip in August, after Ramadan.
7 - LIBERIA - 10 Giugno 2012. Il governo liberiano ha annunciato la ''chiusura immediata'' della sua frontiera con la Costa d'Avorio all'indomani di un attacco in cui sette caschi blu sono rimasti uccisi nel paese confinante. ''Il governo ha deciso la chiusura immediata della frontiera con la Costa d'Avorio'' , ha dichiarato il ministro liberiano dell'informazione Lewis Brown. Sette Caschi blu nigeriani, otto civili ed almeno un militare ivoriano sono morti venerdì in un attacco.

LIBERIA - June 10, 2012. The Liberian government has announced the ''immediate closure'' of its border with Côte d'Ivoire in the aftermath of an attack in which seven peacekeepers were killed in the neighboring country. '' The government has ordered the immediate closure of the border with Côte d'Ivoire'', said the Liberian Information Minister Lewis Brown. Seven Nigerian Blue Helmets, eight civilians and at least one Ivorian military were killed Friday in an attack.

1 – EGITTO – 28 Maggio 2012. Sono stati resi noti oggi i risultati ufficiali delle prime elezioni del dopo Mubarak. Il candidato dei Fratelli musulmani alla presidenza Mohamed Morsi è il primo classificato con 5 milioni e 764.952 voti con un tasso di partecipazione al voto è stato del 46,42%. Lo ha annunciato il presidente della commissione elettorale egiziana Faruk Sultan. Intanto però Mohamed el Baradei, l'ex capo dell'agenzia internazionale atomica uscito dalla corsa per le presidenziali, definisce le elezioni “una farsa” in mancanza di una Costituzione condivisa e invoca la necessità di una intesa per un governo di salvezza nazionale ''competente con pieni poteri, per fare ripartire il paese'', soluzione che trova l'accordo di Ahmad Shafiq, altro candidato alla carica di presidente nel ballottaggio del prossimo Giugno.

EGYPT - May 28, 2012. Today were announced the official results of the first elections after Mubarak. 2 - PERU' - 29 Maggio 2012. Il governo ha dichiarato ieri sera lo stato di emergenza per 30 giorni nella provincia di Espinar, nel sud della regione andina di Cuzco, dopo scontri violenti tra polizia e abitanti dei villaggi che si oppongono all'attività della miniera Xstrata Tintaya e che hanno causato due morti e decine di feriti. L'attività mineraria, infatti, è vista come una minaccia per il territorio abitato dagli Indios. Lo stato di emergenza prevede che le forze armate prendano il controllo dell'ordine interno e che vengano sospese le garanzie costituzionali sulla libertà e alla sicurezza personale.

PERU '- May 29th, 2012. The government declared the state of emergency last night for 30 days in the province of Espinar in southern Andean region of Cuzco, after violent clashes between police and villagers who oppose the mine Xstrata Tintaya activity and resulting in two dead and dozens wounded. Mining activity, infact, is seen as a threat to the territory inhabited by the Indians. The emergency rule provides that the armed forces take control of internal order and that they suspended the constitutional guarantees on freedom and personal security.

3 – SOMALIA – 30 Maggio 2012. Le truppe keniane e dell'Unione africana (Ua) sono entrate ad Afmadow, uno degli ultimi bastioni dei ribelli islamici al Shabaab nel sud della Somalia. Lo ha reso noto un portavoce dell'esercito keniano. La città era uno degli obiettivi che si erano proposti di conquistare i soldati di Nairobi all'inizio della loro offensiva nel Paese confinante lo scorso ottobre nella loro battaglia contro i fondamentalisti. Sembra quindi che le misure di collaborazione intraprese dai Paesi africani per debellare il forte movimento armato stia avendo i suoi frutti, dopo mesi e mesi di attacchi molto violenti dei fondamentalisti legati ad Al Qaida.

SOMALIA - May 30, 2012. Kenyan troops and African Union (AU) came to Afmadow, one of the last bastions of al Shabaab Islamist insurgents in southern Somalia. This was announced by a spokesman for the Kenyan army. The city was one of the objectives that the soldiers of Nairobi set out to conquest at the start of their offensive in the neighboring country last October in their battle against the fundamentalists. It thus appears that the measures of cooperation undertaken by African countries to eradicate the strong armed movement are having their fruits, after months and months of very violent attacks by fundamentalists linked to Al Qaeda.

4 - SUDAN – SUD SUDAN - 31 Maggio 2012. Dopo il ritiro avvenuto ieri delle truppe sudanesi dalla regione di Abyei, contesa con il Sud Sudan, mettendo fine ad un anno di occupazione, oggi il governo del Sud Sudan ha accusato il nemico di aver compiuto dei bombardamenti al confine tra i due Paesi. ''Nego categoricamente che vi sia qualunque bombardamento che sarebbe anche totalmente illogico'', ha dichiarato il vice ministro sudanese agli Esteri, Osman Rahamtullah, durante un incontro in cui si è fatto il punto sullo stato dei colloqui di pace fra Sudan e Sud Sudan. Dopo mesi e mesi di trattative, comunque, la situazione resta ancora molto tesa.

SUDAN - SOUTH SUDAN - May 31st, 2012. ''L'attentatore ha portato il suo camion pieno di esplosivo nel primo posto di guardia all'esterno della base'', ha riferito un agente di sicurezza, che ha aggiunto che altre 13 persone sono rimaste ferite. I talebani hanno rivendicato l'attacco.

AFGHANISTAN - June 1, 2012. At least seven people were killed in a suicide attack against a field of the NATO force (ISAF), in the troubled eastern province of Khost. '' The bomber has brought his truck full of explosives in the first guard post outside the base,'' said a security officer, who added that 13 other people were injured. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

6 - EGITTO - 2 Giugno 2012. Si è pronunciata oggi la Corte di Giustizia incaricata di giudicare l'ex rais egiziano Hosni Mubarak: l'ormai deposto dittatore è stato condannato all'ergastolo per avere ordinato di sparare sui manifestanti durante la rivoluzione. Carcere a vita anche per l'ex ministro dell'Interno, Haimb El Adly, mentre sono stati assolti invece sei responsabili della sicurezza al ministero dell'Interno. Subito dopo il verdetto Mubarak è stato trasportato a bordo di un elicottero verso la prigione di Tora, ma durante il volo è stato colpito da un malore, forse una crisi cardiaca, rendendo necessarie le cure mediche.

EGYPT - June 2, 2012. Lo riferiscono fonti mediche palestinesi, secondo le quali gli attacchi sarebbero stati condotti nella zona orientale di Khan Younis, nel sud della Striscia, e a Beit Layiha, nel nord. L'esercito israeliano ha confermato i raid come risposta all'attacco di venerdì scorso da parte di un militante palestinese che ha causato la morte di un sergente israeliano.

ISRAEL - PALESTINE - June 3, 2012. Seven Palestinians were wounded in four Israeli air raids in the Gaza area. The Palestinian medical sources said that the attacks were carried out in the east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, and Beit Layiha in the north. The Israeli army confirmed the raid on Friday in response to the attack by a Palestinian militant who killed an Israeli sergeant.

1 - YEMEN - 21 Maggio 2012. Continuano senza sosta le ondate di violenza e gli attentati nel Paese della Penisola Araba. Almeno 96 militari sono morti e 300 sono stati feriti oggi a Sana'a, la capitale, in un attentato kamikaze che ha avuto come obiettivo i preparativi per la parata militare in programma martedì in occasione del 22esimo anniversario dell'unificazione del Paese. L'attentatore ha indossato un'uniforme militare per confondersi ai tanti uomini dell'esercito presenti sul posto per le esercitazioni, quando all'improvviso si è fatto esplodere causando la strage. L'attacco è stato rivendicato da Al Qaida.

YEMEN - May 21, 2012. the waves of violence and attacks continue in the country of the Arabian Peninsula. At least 96 soldiers have died and 300 were wounded today in Sana'a, the capital, in a suicide bombing that was aimed to the preparations for the military parade on Tuesday on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of unification of the country. The bomber wore a military uniform to blend in to the many military men at the scene for the exercise, when suddenly blew himself up causing havoc. The attack was claimed by Al Qaeda.

2 - SIRIA - 22 Maggio 2012. Dodici pellegrini sciiti libanesi che stavano rientrando in patria dall'Iran attraverso la Siria sono stati rapiti oggi nella provincia di Aleppo dai ribelli dell'Esercito libero siriano (Els). Immediate le manifestazioni di protesta nei quartieri sciiti nel sud di Beirut, in particolare Bir al Abed, Shatila e al Msharraiyeh, nonostante l'Esercito libero siriano smentisca la cattura. Il leader del movimento sciita libanese Hezbollah, Seyed Hassan Nasrollah, ha comunque invitato i familiari di un gruppo di sciiti rapiti oggi in Siria dai ribelli a mantenere la calma e a mettere fine alle manifestazioni e al blocco di alcune strade, in modo da non complicare le trattative in corso per ottenere la liberazione dei rapiti.

SYRIA - May 22, 2012. Twelve Lebanese Shiite pilgrims who were returning home from Iran through Syria were kidnapped today in the province of Aleppo by the Syrian rebels free Army (Els). Immediate protests in Shiite neighborhoods in south Beirut, in particular the Bir Abed, Shatila and Msharraiyeh, despite the Syrian Army denies capture. The leader of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, Seyed Hassan Nasrollah, however, has invited the family members of the group of Shiites abducted by insurgents in Syria today to stay calm and put an end to demonstrations and blocking some streets, so as not to complicate ongoing negotiations to secure the release of the hostages.

L'agitazione è stata indetta per rivendicare aumenti salariali per l'intera categoria. Nell'intera area metropolitana si sono creati grandi ingorghi di auto, provocando code per un totale di 202 km.

BRAZIL - May 23, 2012. MALI - May 24, 2012. There have been reached agreements that provide for the coexistence of the two interim presidents in charge of ensuring the transition after the coup of March 22 operated by the army. The first is Dioncounda Traore while the second is the captain Amadou Sanogo Haya, who led the military overthrew President Amadou Toumani Toure. The two leaders will work together to ensure the pacification and stabilization of the country for the next 12 months, in terms of which shall be called democratic elections to create the new course of the central African country.

Le truppe dell'Unione africana (UA) a supporto delle milizie del governo di transizione somalo hanno conquistato la città di Afgoye a circa 30 km a nord-ovest da Mogadiscio, una delle roccaforti dei ribelli al Shabaab, fondamentalisti legati al al Qaida che da tempo conducono azioni militari contro il governo centrale. Con la cattura di Afgoye si apre un corridoio di sicurezza che permette l'accesso di aiuti umanitari alla popolazione della capitale, altrimenti in difficoltà per l'impossibilità di far giungere rifornimenti.

SOMALIA - May 25th, 2012. The troops of the African Union (AU) in support of the Somali transitional government troops took the city of Afgoye about 30 km northwest of Mogadishu, one of the strongholds of al Shabaab insurgents, fundamentalists linked to al Qaeda that lead-time military actions against the central government. the capture of Afgoye opens a safe corridor that allows access of humanitarian aid to the population of the city, otherwise difficult for the impossibility to get supplies.

6 - EGITTO - 26 Maggio 2012. Nelle prime elezioni svolte in Egitto nel dopo-Mubarak i dati ufficiosi danno come vittoriosi del primo turno e destinati al ballottaggio Mohamed Morsi dei Fratelli musulmani, dato come favorito, e l'ex premier del regime caduto lo scorso anno, Ahmad Shafiq. Proprio quest'ultimo ha dichiarato oggi di essersi impegnato con i giovani ed i movimenti degli attivisti a "restituire loro la rivoluzione e i suoi frutti che sono stati rubati". "Sarò all'altezza dei vostri sogni", ha assicurato, tuttavia il Movimento 6 aprile ha respinto le sue promesse affermando che il candidato conservatore è uomo che lotta per il ritorno.

EGYPT - May 26, 2012. 7 - MAROCCO - 27 Maggio 2012. Decine di migliaia di persone sono scese in piazza a Casablanca, in Marocco, contro il governo per chiedere ''un miglioramento della situazione sociale''. Si tratta della più imponente manifestazione contro il governo formato a gennaio da Abdelilah Benkirane dopo le elezioni di novembre, in cui il suo Partito islamico moderato ha ottenuto una netta affermazione. La manifestazione è stata indetta dalla Confederazione democratica del Lavoro e la Federazione democratica del Lavoro.

MOROCCO - May 27, 2012. Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Casablanca, Morocco, against the government ''to ask an improvement of the social situation''. This is the largest demonstration against the government formed in January by Abdelilah Benkirane after the November elections, in which his moderate Islamic party won a clear statement. The event was organized by the Democratic Confederation of Labour and the Democratic Federation of Labour.

1 - MYANMAR - 30 Aprile 2012. Il segretario generale dell'ONU, Ban Ki-Moon; ha tenuto oggi uno storico discorso davanti al Parlamento birmano, in cui ha invitato il presidente Thein Sein, espressione della precedente giunta militare al potere, e la leader dell'opposizione Aung San Suu Kyi a "lavorare come partner, sulla strada del cambiamento". Il segretario si è rivolto ai due leaders complimentandosi per la svolta democratica intrapresa per il bene del Paese, viste le recenti elezioni in cui il partito di Aung San Suu Kyi ha nettamente trionfato. La Premio Nobel per la Pace ha anche precisato che nei prossimi giorni i membri del suo partito giureranno di fronte all'Assemblea.

MYANMAR - April 30, 2012. The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, today held a historic speech in front of the Burmese Parliament, where he invited President Thein Sein, expression of the previous ruling military junta and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi to "work as partners on the road of change." The secretary turned to the two leaders complimented for democratic change, undertaken for the good of the country, given the recent elections in which the party of Aung San Suu Kyi has clearly triumphed. The Nobel Prize for Peace has also stated that in the coming days the members of his party will swear before the Assembly.

2 - SUD SUDAN - 2 Maggio 2012. Il Consiglio di Sicurezza dell'ONU ha approvato all'unanimità una risoluzione sugli scontri tra Sudan e Sud Sudan. Il testo chiede che le due parti cessino subito le ostilità e prevede, in caso uno o entrambi gli Stati non rispettino i termini del documento, l'ipotesi di sanzioni molto pesanti dal punto di vista economico e, non si esclude, militare. Nel documento, inoltre, si richiede ad entrambi il ritiro senza condizioni delle forze armate nel proprio lato del confine e l'attivazione entro una settimana di meccanismi necessari a garantire la sicurezza nelle zone di confine.

SOUTH SUDAN - May 2, 2012. The UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution on the clashes between Sudan and South Sudan. The text asks to both parties to immediately cease hostilities and provides, in case one or both the States don't comply with the terms of the document, the hypothesis of very heavy sanctions from the economic point of view and does not exclude militar intervent. The document also requires to both the unconditional withdrawal of armed forces on its side of the border and within a week the activation of mechanisms necessary to ensure security in border areas.

3 - HAITI - 3 Maggio 2012. I deputati haitiani hanno approvato la nomina a primo ministro di Laurent Lamothe, stretto consigliere del Presidente della Repubblica Michel Martelly e attuale ministro degli Esteri. Lamothe, che aveva già ricevuto il consenso del Senato di Port-au-Prince, sostituirà Garry Conille, che aveva dato le dimissioni a febbraio dopo soli quattro mesi di mandato per profonde divergenze con il Presidente.

HAITI - May 3, 2012. The Haitian deputies approved the appointment as prime minister Laurent Lamothe, a close adviser of the Republic President Michel Martelly and current foreign minister. Lamothe, who had already received the consent of the Senate of Port-au-Prince, will replace Garry Conille, who had resigned dimissions in February after four months in office for deep differences with the President.

E' di almeno 59 manifestanti feriti il bilancio degli scontri di oggi al Cairo, in piazza Tahrir, luogo storico che ha dato origine alla primavera araba ed alla cacciata di Mubarak. Gli agenti hanno fatto irruzione nella moschea di al Nour, arrestando un numero molto elevato di dimostranti. Nel pomeriggio c'era stato un tentativo di assalto al ministero della difesa, respinto con un morto e diversi feriti. Gli incidenti per questo sono proseguiti e le forze di polizia hanno usato gas lacrimogeni nel tentativo di disperdere la folla: sarebbero addirittura 500 le persone intossicate in modo lieve.

5 - MAROCCO - 5 Maggio 2012. Le forze di sicurezza marocchine hanno smantellato una rete terroristica sospettata di forti legami con Al Qaida nel Maghreb islamico (Aqmi). Secondo un comunicato del Ministero dell'Interno marocchino, il gruppo era guidato da un esponente del ''Movimento dei moudjahidines in Marocco'', una formazione poco nota, se non agli investigatori dell'intelligence anti-terrorismo. Il gruppo aveva programmato attentati ed azioni violente nel Regno, come testimoniano alcuni documenti rinvenuti nel bunker che faceva da base operativa del gruppo.

MOROCCO - May 5, 2012. The Moroccan security forces dismantled a terrorist network suspected of strong links with Al Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb (Aqmi). According to a statement from the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior, the group was headed by a member of the ''Moudjahidines Movement" in Morocco, a little-known training, if not for anti-terrorism intelligence investigators. The group had planned attacks and violent actions in the Kingdom, as seen in several documents found in the bunker that served as base of operations of the group.

6 - IRAN - 6 Maggio 2012. E' di oggi l'ufficialità dei risultati del secondo turno di elezioni nel Paese. Il partito dell'attuale presidente iraniano Mahmud Amadinejad risulta sonoramente sconfitto da quello del suo principale rivale, la guida suprema religiosa Ali Khamenei, leader del partito conservatore iraniano. Già nel primo turno di metà marzo si erano viste le prime avvisaglie di una debacle di Amadinejad, tuttavia era difficile pensare ad una sconfitta così netta. In questo secondo turno si assegnavano 65 seggi: 22 sono andati al Fronte unito dei principalisti (formazione legata a Khamenei) e 15 al Fronte della resistenza (sostenitore di Ahmadinejad), con i rimanenti seggi assegnati a forze indipendenti. Ora la maggioranza parlamentare risulta molto spostata dalla parte conservatrice.

IRAN - May 6, 2012. It's of today the official result of the second round of elections in the country. The party of the current Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is soundly defeated by the one of his main rival, the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, religious leader of the Conservative Party of Iran. Already in the first round in mid-March there have been seen the first signs of a debacle by Ahmadinejad, however, was hard to imagine a clear-cut defeat. In this second round 65 seats were assigned: 22 went to the United Front of principalists (training linked to Khamenei) and 15 to the front of the resistance (Ahmadinejad supporter), with remaining seats assigned to independent forces. Now the parliamentary majority is deeplymoved by the conservative party.

1 - EGITTO – 12 Febbraio 2012. Ad un anno dalla caduta del regime di Mubarak è indetto uno sciopero generale in Piazza Tahrir, simbolo della rivoluzione. In occasione delle celebrazioni per la fine del regime molti manifestanti mostrano la propria insofferenza per il nuovo governo militare, colpevole di non aver mantenuto le promesse fatte al popolo proprio un anno fa, e vorrebbero compiere l'ultimo passo verso la democrazia. Tuttavia allo sciopero non partecipano molte persone, a causa degli appelli delle autorità religiose e politiche contro lo sciopero e delle minacce di licenziamento rivolte ai lavoratori. Forse, allora, le denunce degli scioperanti circa la scarsa democraticità del nuovo governo non sono totalmente infondate.

EGYPT - 12th february 2012. After one year from Mubarak’s regime, a general strike will take place in Tahrir plaza, as a symbol of revolution. In occasion of the end of the regime celebration, many protesters have expressed their intolerance to military government, guilty of ignoring the promise done to the people a year before, convinced in achieving the democracy. The strike doesn’t count too many participants, both because of the religious authorities objected and threatened of firing. Perhaps, therefore, the accusation made by the strikers concerning the new government’s lack of democracy are not unfounded.

2 - LIBIA - 16 Febbraio 2012. Ricorre oggi il primo anniversario dall'inizio della rivolta contro il regime di Gheddafi, concluse poi con la fine della dittatura e la morte del rais al potere da 40 anni. Per la circostanza nella capitale ed a Bengasi sono state organizzate celebrazioni solenni, tuttavia gli stessi protagonisti della rivoluzione ammettono che ci sia molto lavoro da fare per completare la transizione politica, a cominciare dalle elezioni per l'assemblea costituente previste a breve.

LIBIA - 16th February 2012. Today is the first anniversary since the beginning of rebellion against the dictatorship of Gheddafi. It was finished with the ending of the regime and with the death of raìs having the power for 40 years. For this event there are solemn celebrations in the capital city, Tripoli City, and in Bengasi City, all the same the leaders of the revolution admit that there is many things to do to complete the politic transition, starting with elections for the Constituent Assembly in a few days.

3 - ALGERIA - 12 Febbraio 2012. Il presidente tunisino Moncef Marzouki è in visita in Algeria, ultima tappa del suo tour per il rilancio dell’Unione del Maghreb arabo, nata nel 1989, per il rafforzamento della cooperazione tra i paesi africani che si affacciano sul Mediterraneo occidentale. Dopo la caduta di molti regimi in quest'area sono sorte nuove prospettive per questa istituzione, con la concreta possibilità di instaurare una collaborazione che miri alla crescita economica dei Paesi membri grazie soprattutto a partnership commerciali ed industriali.

4 - SENEGAL - 18 Febbraio 2012. L'opposizione senegalese ha confermato anche per oggi una manifestazione non autorizzata, indetta a Dakar per protestare contro il presidente uscente Abdoulaye Wade, candidato per la terza volta a capo di stato. Ieri sera gli scontri con la polizia sono stati particolarmente violenti, vi sono stati feriti ed e' stata danneggiata una moschea di una influente confraternita musulmana. Intanto oggi e domani votano per la presidenza i circa 23.000 militari, mentre in tutto il Paese si voterà il 26 febbraio.

SENEGAL - 18th February 2012. The Senegalese opposition has confirmed for today an unauthorized manifestation. It has been organized in Dakar City for protesting against the ex president, Abdoulaye Wade, which is stood for Head of State for the third time. Yesterday evening the clashes with the police were very violent, there were many casualties and a Muslim influential confraternity's mosque was damaged. Today and tomorrow the 23000 Senegalese soldiers will vote for the president, instead other peoples will vote 26th February.

5 - INDIA E GEORGIA - 13 Febbraio 2012. Un’auto dell’ambasciata israeliana è stata fatta esplodere con un ordigno a Nuova Delhi ed un altra bomba è stata disinnescata in tempo su un auto dell'ambasciata israeliana a Tbilisi, in Georgia. Il presidente israeliano, Benjamin Nethanyahu, accusa esplicitamente il governo iraniano di essere il mandante degli attentati, descrivendo il governo di Teheran come “il maggiore esportatore di terrore al mondo”. Secondo il premier, infatti, il governo di Ahmadinejad aiuterebbe materialmente gli sciiti libanesi di Hezbollah e fomenterebbe azioni terroristiche contro Israele in tutti i Paesi mediorientali. L'ambasciatore iraniano in India ha negato ogni responsabilità condannando l'attentato.

The iranian ambassador denies any responsibility for the attack.

6 - BAHREIN - 14 Febbraio 2012. Ad un anno dalle prime rivolte della minoranza sciita contro la famiglia reale ed i vertici dello Stato di fede sunnita, da cui si sentono discriminati, migliaia di persone si riversano nelle strade di Manama, la capitale, riaccendendo uno scontro tra le comunità che sembrava essersi placato. Le forze di polizia hanno disperso in maniera violenta i manifestanti che chiedono più riforme ed una svolta democratica nel Paese. Dopo gli ulteriori appelli alla mobilitazione da parte degli sciiti la tensione è destinata ad aumentare. Mezzi blindati e truppe in assetto antisommossa sono stati schierati nella capitale, nel tentativo di contenere l’ondata di proteste contro la monarchia sunnita.

In Manama armored vehicles and anti-riot troops are deployed in attempt to keep the riot against the sunni monarchy down.

7 - SIRIA - 16 Febbraio 2012. I bombardamenti e le violenze sono ormai all'ordine del giorno. A fronte del grande impegno a livello diplomatico dell'ONU e della Lega Araba, il presidente siriano Bashar al Assad indice un referendum per il 26 di Febbraio su una nuova costituzione basata sul pluralismo e che elimini ogni riferimento al partito Baas, al potere da 50 anni. Secondo gli oppositori del regime, però, questo testo non limita i poteri assoluti del presidente e non può quindi essere fonte di una svolta democratica per il Paese. In questo stesso giorno l'ONU approva quasi all'unanimità la risoluzione della Lega Araba, che sollecita il presidente siriano Assad a porre fine alle violenze contro la popolazione civile e cedere il potere in vista di una transizione democratica, escludendo però un intervento militare per il momento.

8 - BRASILE - 12 Febbraio 2012. Si conclude lo sciopero dei poliziotti a Salvador, dove da due settimane era occupato un edificio amministrativo per rivendicare un aumento di stipendio. Il governo brasiliano è venuta incontro alle richieste degli scioperanti garantendo un aumento del 6,5% dei salari degli agenti, costituendo così un precedente per i poliziotti di tutto il Paese: anche a Rio, ora, gli agenti locali sono in sciopero e continuano a rivendicare migliori condizioni di lavoro. Lo sciopero a Rio si conclude il 14 Febbraio in vista del Carnevale senza che il governo abbia offerto concessioni, ma solo la promessa di rialzare i salari dal prossimo anno.

BRAZIL - 12th february 2012. The police strike In Salvador city ended after two weeks occupying an administrative building to claim a raise of salary. 1 - IRAQ - 2 febbraio 2012. La legge che dovrebbe tutelare la libertà d’informazione e gli operatori della stampa non rispetta gli standard internazionali e viola la Costituzione irachena. Nello specifico, essa afferma che è abilitato a esercitare la professione solo colui che lavora come giornalista a tempo pieno, escludendo di fatto coloro che hanno un contratto part-time, così come i blogger e tutti gli altri soggetti impegnati nella diffusione delle notizie. La nuova normativa, entrata in vigore nel mese di novembre, è stata fortemente contestata dalle molte organizzazioni che si battono per la libertà di stampa ed è stata oggetto di un ricorso al Supremo Tribunale Federale. Ricorso che però è stato respinto due giorni fa all’unanimità.

2 - RUSSIA - Mosca - 2 febbraio 2012. La Russia continuerà a vendere armi alla Siria, perché i suoi contratti rispettano gli standard legali internazionali. Lo ha ribadito il ministro della difesa russo, Anatoly Antonoy: “La Russia è intenzionata rispettare i suoi impegni internazionali nel campo della vendita di armi convenzionali, non stiamo violando nessun obbligo internazionale.” Nelle ultime settimane contratti in armamenti tra Mosca e Damasco avevano sollevato le critiche degli Stati Uniti, impegnati nel pressing sul Cremlino perché abbandoni l’alleato siriano e appoggi la nuova risoluzione Onu, che chiede le dimissioni di Bashar el-Assad. Il perché della resistenza russa agli inviti degli USA e dell’ ONU lo si capisce subito dai ricchi contratti per la fornitura degli armamenti, il contratto con la Siria ammonterebbe a 6 miliardi di dollari.

3 - EGITTO – Port Said - 2 febbraio 2012. Il Supremo Consiglio delle Forze Armate, al potere in Egitto dopo la caduta del regime di Hosni Mubarak un anno fa, ha proclamato tre giorni di lutto nazionale per le vittime delle violenze a Port Said, che hanno fatto seguito alla conclusione della partita vinta per 3-1 dai locali dell'al-Masry a spese dei cairoti dell'al-Ahli, uno dei club piu' blasonati del campionato egiziano. Nei tumulti hanno perso la vita almeno 74 persone, mentre il numero dei feriti accertati e' salito a oltre mille. Il Partito per la Liberta' e la Giustizia, braccio politico dei Fratelli Musulmani che controlla quasi la meta' dei seggi nel nuovo Parlamento del Cairo, ha accusato i sostenitori di Mubarak di essere dietro la tragica rissa di massa nell'impianto sportivo. Secondo quanto diffuso dal Ministero dell’Interno egiziano, sarebbero già 47 le persone arrestate.

4 - SUDAN - Il 30 gennaio 2012 l’agenzia di stampa cinese Xinhua ha diffuso la notizia del rapimento di 29 lavoratori cinesi ad opera di un gruppo di ribelli armati nella regione del Sud Kordofan (Sudan). Si tratta di operai della Sinohydro, gigante cinese dell’edilizia e del settore idroelettrico, che ha riversato milioni di dollari in investimenti nell’area del travagliato confine con il Sud Sudan.
L’incidente si inserisce nel drammatico quadro degli scontri tra le forze armate sudanesi e i gruppi ribelli alleati con il neonato governo del Sud Sudan. Alla violenza di confine si aggiunge ora il coinvolgimento della Cina– principale fornitore di armi del regime di Khartoum, nonché più importante acquirente del petrolio sudanese. Una situazione difficile per Pechino, criticata da anni per la politica condotta in Africa, la quale la si può definire senza mezzi termini un vero e proprio neocolonialismo economico.

5 - ARABIA SAUDITA - Fino a 25 detenuti stipati in celle di cinque metri quadrati, condizioni igienico-sanitarie catastrofiche e innumerevoli persone che dormono per terra. Da qualche giorno circola in rete un video rubato nel carcere di Braiman, a Gedda, che mostra le condizioni pietose in cui vivono i detenuti del penitenziario della seconda città più grande dell'Arabia Saudita. I detenuti vivono in condizioni inumane. Inoltre vi è la testimonianza del militante saudita Hussain al-Yousif . Il militante sostiene che la situazione nel paese è uguale in tutte le carceri, se non peggiore, ha parlato di pene corporali e difficoltà nel farsi curare e ha concluso dicendo : " Si sentono da tempo notizie di somme ingenti destinate alla costruzione di nuove prigioni. Niente cambia. I soldi non arrivano mai a destinazione"

6 - COLOMBIA – 2 FEBB 2012 - E' di almeno sette morti accertati e di 73 feriti, 33 dei quali in gravi condizioni, il bilancio di un attentato dinamitardo avvenuto a Tumaco, citta' portuale del dipartimento di Narino, nella Colombia sud-occidentale: una moto carica di esplosivo e lasciata in sosta davanti a un commissariato di polizia e' saltata in aria: la deflagrazione e' stata tanto potente che ha quasi completamente raso al suolo la palazzina, lesionando inoltre quattro edifici adiacenti. Tra le vittime, oltre a numerosi agenti, anche semplici passanti, compresi molti bambini e donne. Anche le autorita' colombiane non sono riuscite a collegare l’attentato con nessun gruppo terroristico ed hanno offerto una taglia di 100 milioni di pesos, pari a oltre 42.000 euro, a chiunque fornira' elementi utili a identificare gli autori della strage .

1 - CUBA - l’11 gennaio 2012, nell’aula magna dell’università dell’Avana è stato conferito, al Presidente della Repubblica Islamica dell’ Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, un dottorato honoris causa in scienze politiche. Raúl Castro l’ha ricevuto poche ore dopo al palazzo della rivoluzione per confermare il suo sostegno al programma nucleare di Teheran e per sottolineare il diritto di tutti gli Stati all’uso pacifico di questa “energia”. Quando, il governo cubano, comincerà ad occuparsi dei problemi del paese invece di continuare a tenere per mano il regime di Teheran, distogliendo l’attenzione dalle difficoltà interne?
2 - PALESTINA – Gaza, 7 gennaio 2012. “Alcuni cittadini di Gaza e della Cisgiordania sono stati danneggiati dal governo e dai gruppi armati”, questo è l’articolo che ha scritto Mahmoud Abu Rahma, dirigente della ONG Al Mezan, e che gli è costato dodici punti di sutura a causa dei coltelli di alcuni uomini mascherati. Il secondo attacco in una settimana. La sua accusa era semplice, criticava il governo di Hamas e i gruppi armati di Gaza di non proteggere i cittadini. Gli abitanti preferiscono tacere. E dopo l’aggressione ad Abu Rahma si capisce anche il perché.
3 - EGITTO – il 25 gennaio 2012 è il primo anniversario delle rivolte che hanno portato alla caduta del regime di Hosni Mubarak. Queste le parole di Tarek El Kholi, portavoce del Movimento 6 aprile e Fronte democratico, ”… Presto daremo il via ad una nuova fase della rivoluzione, … non sarà violenta, nonostante quello che dicono i militari e i mezzi d’informazione vicini al potere ”. Adesso che i movimenti laici e progressisti hanno perso il loro candidato di riferimento Mohamed el Baradei sarà ancora più difficile vincere le ostilità del consiglio supremo delle forze armate e dei partiti islamici che hanno vinto le elezioni della camera bassa. Insomma per i giovani scesi in piazza un anno fa, c’è davvero molto da festeggiare?
4 - HAITI – il 12 gennaio 2012 migliaia di persone sono scese per le strade della capitale haitiana Port au Prince per chiedere un risarcimento ai caschi blu Onu colpevoli di aver portato nel Paese il virus del colera, che ha causato almeno 7 mila morti. La situazione, questa volta, non si ferma a semplici manifestazioni di piazza, stimolate da agenti più o meno esterni. In questa occasione è stato l'Istituto per la Giustizia e la Democrazia in Haiti a confermare che sta preparando una serie di iniziative da portare nei tribunali haitiani o statunitensi se l'Onu non accetterà di rispondere alle richieste. L'Organizzazione delle Nazioni Unite ha fatto sapere che nonostante sia plausibile il modo con cui si è scatenata l'epidemia di colera, questo ancora non è stato provato scientificamente. Che sia il momento che l’ONU cominci a prendere seriamente in considerazione un cambio di politica e di gestione della situazione haitiana dopo tutti gli errori commessi?
5 - SENEGAL – Dakar, il 28 gennaio un poliziotto è morto negli scontri scoppiati nella notte nella capitale dopo che il Consiglio costituzionale ha dato il via libera per un terzo mandato del presidente Abdoulaye Wade. L'ammissione dell'85enne Wade e l'esclusione del cantante Youssou Ndour dalle elezioni presidenziali del 26 febbraio ha scatenato la protesta di migliaia di oppositori che hanno attaccato gli agenti e dato fuoco a negozi e a pneumatici per le strade della capitale .

6 - TANZANIA – 25 gennaio 2012, a Dar es-Salaam, il governo tanzanese ha annunciato di essersi unito ai principali Paesi del mondo nella lotta alla pirateria nell'oceano Indiano. Lo ha rilevato il ministro della Difesa, Hussein Mwinyi, in una dichiarazione inviata ai media locali, nella quale sostiene che il suo Paese  "contribuirà con tutti i mezzi a sua disposizione all'azione di contrasto condotta da elementi estremisti somali a danno di navi commerciali ”. Finalmente una presa di posizione importante da parte della Tanzania che  si è unita, e si spera in maniera concreta, alla lotta contro i pirati somali che vede impegnata soprattutto le nazioni che si affacciano sull’Oceano Indiano.

7 - SOMALIA – Il 27 gennaio 2012, dopo 17 anni è stato riaperto l'Ufficio delle Nazioni unite di Mogadiscio, assente dal paese dal 1995, alla cui testa si trova il rappresentante speciale del segretario generale per la Somalia, Augustine Mahiga. "Occorre i somali sappiano", ha detto Mahiga al suo arrivo a Mogadiscio, "che la riapertura dell'Ufficio delle Nazioni Unite nel loro Paese segna l'inizio di una nuova era nel settore della cooperazione e dell'impegno politico, in un momento in cui il periodo di transizione volge al termine". Il giorno stesso del suo arrivo in Somalia il nuovo rappresentante dell'Onu è stato ricevuto a Villa Somalia dal presidente, Sheikh SharifSheikh Ahmed. Si spera sia arrivato il momento che l’ONU prenda una presa di posizione e non si sottragga alle sue responsabilità per quanto riguarda la gestione politica e la cooperazione in Somalia e in tutto il Corno d’Africa.
