1 - EGITTO - 18 Giugno 2012. Al termine dello spoglio delle schede elettorali per il secondo turno delle elezioni presidenziali, secondo le fonti giudiziarie del Consiglio di Stato il candidato dei Fratelli musulmani, Mohamed Morsi, sarebbe in testa, tuttavia lo staff dell'altro candidato, Ahmed Shafiq, ha affermato che il candidato ex premier di Hosni Mubarak è avanti nello scrutinio dei voti ''oltre ogni dubbio'' al 51,5 – 52%. In ogni caso, in attesa dell'ufficialità dei risultati, il Consiglio militare egiziano rimetterà alla fine del mese il potere al presidente eletto durante una grande cerimonia che ''tutto il mondo potrà seguire''.

Tuttavia gli scontri sembrano destinati a proseguire, visto che almeno 34 persone sono rimaste uccise in scontri tra polizia e presunti fondamentalisti islamici, i quali hanno reagito con violenza al tentato arresto di un membro della setta di Boko Haram.

Israele, da parte sua, aveva condotto una nuova ondata di raid aerei sulla Striscia nella notte, colpendo almeno otto obiettivi. Nel pomeriggio, poi, un nuovo raid ha causato la morte di un giovane palestinese nella città di Rafah. La tensione, insomma, è destinata a salire nelle prossime ore.

Nei giorni scorsi la Corte Suprema ha destituito il premier Yousuf Raza Gilani, stabilendo che l'Assemblea nazionale dovrà eleggere a maggioranza assoluta il nuovo presidente. Quest'oggi il vertice della coalizione di maggioranza del Pakistan presieduto dal presidente Asif Ali Zardari ha designato l'ex ministro dell'Industria tessile Makhdoom Shahabuddin come candidato. Tuttavia il pomeriggio stesso quest'ultimo ha ricevuto un mandato di arresto emesso da un magistrato della Forza antinarcotici (ANF), il quale lo accusa di aver emesso autorizzazioni irregolari per l'esportazione di efedrina pachistana all'estero nel 2010, quando cioè Shahabuddin era epoca ministro della Sanità. Ora il posto di candidato premier sarà occupato da Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.

L'accusa per lui è di essere stato responsabile della morte di 17 persone la settimana scorsa in scontri fra polizia e contadini. Poco dopo la destituzione nella centrale Piazza delle Armi di Asuncion, dove fin dal mattino si sono radunati migliaia di simpatizzanti del capo dello Stato provenienti da tutto il Paese, per lo più contadini, sono scoppiati degli incidenti tra loro e la polizia.

Sempre nella stessa giornata altri nove soldati sono stati uccisi dai talebani nella zona circostante. La causa della tensione di questo periodo nella regione è stata la misteriosa uccisione all'inizio di maggio del prestigioso Maulana Naseeb Khan Wazir, molto ascoltato dalla fascia radicale dei musulmani.

Su di lui pendono accuse gravissime dalla Corte Penale Internazionale, tra cui omicidio, rapimento, mutilazioni, schiavizzazione sessuale di donne e bambini e utilizzo di bambini-soldato.
