THE WEEK IN A WORLD MAP _ lun. 20.05.2012



1 - CONGO - 14 Maggio 2012. Undici caschi blu del contingente Monuc delle Nazioni Unite dispiegato nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo (Rdc) sono stati feriti oggi da colpi di proiettile sparati contro di loro da alcuni locali. Questi accusano la missione Onu di non essere intervenuta di fronte agli attacchi sanguinari attribuiti alle Forze democratiche di liberazione del Ruanda (Fdlr). L'episodio si è verificato nell'instabile provincia del Sud-Kivu nella parte orientale del Paese proprio al confine con il Ruanda. In quest'area, in effetti sono frequenti le violenze del suddetto movimento, il quale è composto da appartenenti al gruppo etnico Hutu e prosegue la lotta armata per sfuggire al controllo ruandese ed all'incriminazione per le atrocità commesse in tempo di guerra.

CONGO - May 14, 2012. Eleven peacekeepers of the United Nations contingent of MONUC deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were injured today by bullets fired at them by some locals. They accused the UN mission not to have intervened in the face of bloody attacks attributed to the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR). The incident occurred in the unstable province of South Kivu in the eastern part of the country at the border with Rwanda. In this area, in fact, there are frequent violences attributed to that movement, which is composed of members of the Hutu ethnic group and pursue armed struggle to escape the control of Rwanda and to the indictment for the atrocities committed in wartime.

2 - SIRIA - 15 Maggio 2012. E' stata del 51,26% l'affluenza alle urne per le elezioni parlamentari del 7 maggio in Siria, che secondo risultati non ancora ufficiali vedono la conferma del partito Baath come forza di maggioranza. Le principali forze dell'opposizione hanno liquidato la tornata alle urne come una messinscena propagandistica del regime, viste le continue violenze che continuano ad imperversare nel Paese, con una situazione che non ha mai raggiunto una stabilità nonostante i grandi sforzi della diplomazia internazionale.

SYRIA - May 15, 2012. 3 - NEPAL - 16 Maggio 2012. Ad una settimana dalla consegna della nuova Costituzione federale, il Paese è nel caos a causa delle numerose manifestazioni, degli scontri con la polizia e degli scioperi della fame. La maggior parte di questi incidenti avvengono nelle regioni occidentali del Paese, abitate da minoranze etniche che da anni invocano una maggiore autonomia senza ottenere alcun riconoscimento nonostante gli inviti persino di Ban Ki-Moon, segretario generale dell'ONU. Lo sciopero generale dei trasporti in atto da tre settimane, in particolare, sta causando grandi difficoltà per le regioni montane, a corto di medicinali e di viveri.

NEPAL - May 16, 2012. One week after delivery of the new Federal Constitution, the country is in chaos because of the many demonstrations, clashes with police and hunger strikes. Most of these accidents occur in the western regions of the country, inhabited by ethnic minorities asking for greater autonomy for years without getting any recognition despite calls even by Ban Ki-Moon, UN General Secretary. The general strike of transport in place for three weeks, in particular, is causing grave difficulties for the mountain regions, short of medicines and food.

4 - ISRAELE – PALESTINA - 17 Maggio 2012. Otto palestinesi sarebbero stati feriti nelle ultime ore nella Striscia di Gaza dal fuoco israeliano, in due episodi avvenuti presso la linea di confine tra i territori controllati da Hamas e quelli appartenenti allo Stato ebraico. I fatti si sono verificati ad est di Gaza City e nel settore di Beit Lahiya: qui tre palestinesi sono stati colpiti da raffiche di mitragliatrice, mentre a Gaza 5 persone sarebbero state colpite dalle schegge di un'esplosione, causata dal fuoco di un carro armato israeliano.

ISRAEL - PALESTINE - May 17, 2012. Eight Palestinians were wounded in the last hours in the Gaza Strip by Israeli fire in two incidents occurred at the boundary between the territories controlled by Hamas and those belonging to the Jewish state. The facts have occurred east of Gaza City and in Beit Lahiya: here, three Palestinians were hit by bursts of machine gun, while 5 people in Gaza were hit by shrapnel in an explosion caused by fire from an Israeli tank.

5 - GUINEA BISSAU - 18 Maggio 2012. Nel Paese dell'Africa occidentale, teatro poche settimane fa di un colpo di Stato da parte dei militari, un contingente di 70 soldati del Burkina Faso è arrivato come prima avanguardia della forza di 600 militari inviati dai Paesi della Comunità economica degli Stati dell'Africa occidentale (Ecowas). La missione è stata decisa per accompagnare la transizione del Paese verso un governo democratico, secondo l'intenzione originaria del regime che ha acquisito il potere proprio con l'obiettivo di condurre la Guinea Bissau alla democrazia. Nei prossimi giorni è previsto l'arrivo di nuove forze militari degli altri Paesi africani.

GUINEA BISSAU - May 18, 2012. 6 - YEMEN - 19 Maggio 2012. Almeno 22 miliziani legati ad al Qaida e 12 soldati yemeniti sono morti in combattimento o in seguito a bombardamenti aerei tra ieri e oggi, nel corso della nuova offensiva guidata dagli americani contro gli insorti nel sud dello Yemen. Gli scontri erano cominciati ieri sera e oggi hanno interessato anche la periferia della città meridionale di Jaar, in mano agli integralisti islamici, dove gli USA sono intervenuti con raid aerei di droni, come ormai sta avvenendo nel Paese da diversi mesi a questa parte.

YEMEN - May 19, 2012. At least 22 militants members of al Qaeda and 12 Yemeni soldiers were killed in combat or as a result of air raids between yesterday and today, in the course of a new American-led offensive against insurgents in the south of Yemen. The clashes were started last night and today have also affected the outskirts of the southern city of Jaar, in the hands of Islamic fundamentalists, where the U.S. intervened with air strikes by drones, as is now happening in the country for several months now.
7 - MALI - 20 Maggio 2012. E' andato in scena oggi un nuovo passo nel processo di stabilizzazione del Paese, retto ormai da due mesi da un regime militare dopo un golpe. I vertici militari hanno infatti hanno accettato la decisione della Comunità economica degli Stati dell'Africa occidentale (Ecowas) che prevede un periodo di transizione, sotto la guida del presidente Dioncounda Traorè, che porti a nuove elezioni. ''Un accordo di principio è stato trovato con l'Ecowas'', ha dichiarato il capo dei golpisti, il capitano Amadou Haya Sanogo, dopo aver incontrato i ministri dei Paesi Ecowas, giunti a Bamako per mediare.

MALI - May 20, 2012. Today is a new step in the process of stabilizing of the country, governed now for two months by a military regime following a coup. The military have in fact accepted the decision of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) which provides for a transitional period, under the leadership of President Dioncounda Traore, leading to new elections. ''An agreement in principle was found with the Ecowas'', said the head of the coup, Captain Amadou Sanogo Haya, after meeting the ministers of ECOWAS countries, arrived in Bamako to mediate.

1 - SUDAN - 16 Aprile 2012. Il Parlamento sudanese ha adottato all'unanimità una risoluzione che definisce il governo del Sud Sudan un ''nemico''. A pochi giorni dall'attacco delle forzi militari sud sudanesi alla città di Heglig, ricca fonte petrolifera in territorio sudanese, rivendicata da entrambi i Paesi, questo atto apre di fatto a scenari bellici tra i due Stati. Già da un paio di mesi si susseguono piccoli scontri, perlopiù singoli tafferugli isolati iniziati peraltro dall'esercito sudanese con un bombardamento aereo su pozzi petroliferi. Dopo nemmeno dieci anni di pace, seguiti a decenni di guerre, ed a neanche un anno dalla separazione dei due Stati precedentemente uniti, la guerra sembra davvero alle porte. Intanto i profughi sono migliaia, ridotti alla fame da una situazione economica già precaria.

The sudanese parliament had unanimously adopted a resolution that declares the Sud Sudan "an enemy". short from the Sud Sudanese military forces attack to Heglig city, rich oil spring in the Sudanese territory, claimed by both the Countries, this proclama opens de facto war between the two States. since two months little fightings have begun, most of all isolated little clashes started however by Sudan with the air-bombing on oil wells. after less than 10 years of peace, followed to decades of war, and not even a year far from the scission of the two States before united, war seems to be knocking at the door. meanwhile, the refugees are thousands, reduced to a condition of hunger from the already precarious economical situation.

2 - BRASILE - 17 Aprile 2012. A Bahia, stato orientale del Brasile che si affaccia sull'Atlantico, sale a livelli altissimi la tensione tra indios e proprietari terrieri. Oltre 60 fattorie nel sud dello Stato sono state occupate con la forza da circa 250 appartenenti alla tribù Pataxò Ha Ha Hae e si sono registrati scontri con la polizia al municipio di Pau Brasil che gli indios hanno cercato di occupare. Le loro richieste, per voce della Fondazione nazionale che li protegge, ossia il Funai, è quello di riconquistare 54 mila ettari tra le città di Pau Brasil, Camacan e Itaju do Colonia. Già qualche tempo fa alcune tribù di indios brasiliane operarono alcune occupazioni delle terre per rivendicare la protezione dei propri spazi e della propria identità.

3 – SOMALIA – 18 Aprile 2012. Tre civili sono rimasti gravemente feriti e uno è morto dopo l'esplosione di due bombe questa mattina nella capitale somala, Mogadiscio. Il primo attentato è stato messo a segno nei pressi di Villa Baidoa, una base militare del governo di transizione somalo provocando il ferimento dei civili. Il secondo attacco è stato messo a segno vicino all'ospedale Medina, a pochi metri di distanza dal luogo del primo e ha provocato la morte di un passante. L'attentato non è stato rivendicato, ma da tempo il Paese è teatro di una serie di attentati volti a destabilizzare il governo centrale, soprattutto azioni del gruppo Shabaab, a carattere fortemente islamico tradizionalista, che punta all'introduzione della sharia come legge di Stato.

SOMALIA - 18th April 2012. The civilians have been badly hurted and one died after the explosion of two bombs this morning in the somalian Capital city, Mogadiscio. the first attempt had happened nearby Villa Baidoa, a military base of the transition government provoking the hurts of the injured. the second attack had deflagrated next to the Medina hospital, few metres far from the place of the first one, killing a passer. the attempt hasn't been claimed, but since long time the Country is theatre of a series of attempts aimed to destabilize the central government, mostly from the Al - Shabaab group, markably traditional islamic, that aims to the introdution of the "sharia" as state-law.

4 - GUINEA BISSAU - 19 Aprile 2012. Nel Paese retto da poche settimane da un regime militare autore di un golpe per assicurare una transizione democratica, Manuel Serifo Nhamadjo, candidato per le precedenti presidenziali ma eliminato al primo turno, è stato designato presidente di transizione, grazie ad un accordo tra i golpisti e i principali partiti dell'ex opposizione. Braima Sori Djalo, numero due del principale partito dell'opposizione, è stato nominato presidente del Consiglio nazionale di transizione, organo di controllo legislativo, incaricato di gestire il processo di transizione dopo il golpe che porterà all'istituzione di una vera democrazia.

GUINEA BISSAU - 19th April 2012. 5 – TIBET – 20 Aprile 2012. Due giovani tibetani si sono suicidati dandosi fuoco nella provincia cinese del Sichuan, come già avevano fatto altri 33 loro compagni, perlopiù monaci, negli scorsi due mesi. Le immolazioni sono avvenute all'interno della prefettura di Aba, luogo teatro di tutti i casi precedenti, in segno di protesta contro il governo cinese, che alle richieste autonomiste della maggioranza degli abitanti della regione risponde da tempo con violente repressioni. I due ragazzi ventenni sono morti nel giro di pochi minuti.

TIBET - 20th April 2012. Two young tibetans have committed suicide giving theirself fire in the chinese Province of Sichuan, as other 33 of their mates had already done, mostly monks, in the last two months. the immolations have happened in the Aba, where there were the previous cases, in protest against the Chinese government, which the autonomist demands of the majority of the inhabitants of the region responds to time by violent repression. The two guys in their twenties have died within a few minutes.

6 – KENYA – 21 Aprile 2012. KENYA - 21th April 2012. Five poachers were killed last night by the rangers of the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to Chepareria, in the county of West Pokot, during a fierce gun battle lasted about 40 minutes. This force is often engaged in action to suppress the black market of weapons and precious materials, as it was in this case: rangers, in fact, managed to recover 50 pounds of elephant tusks, as well as three rifles and AK-47 and 15 ammunition that poachers took with them to protect their trade.

7 - BOLIVIA - 22 Aprile 2012. Quattromila lavoratori del settore sanitario hanno iniziato oggi un digiuno per protestare contro il governo di Evo Morales che, a fronte di uno sciopero che si protrae da 20 giorni per un problema di orari, ha dichiarato l'emergenza sanitaria nel Paese, dando il via ai licenziamenti dei medici boliviani. Il Paese soffre da tempo di una grave crisi economica, oltre che di condizioni di povertà su vasta scala. Per questo il governo ha necessità di ottenere nuova liquidità attraverso i licenziamenti: secondo le denunce delle associazioni di categoria, infatti, i licenziati sono sostituiti con personale cubano.

1 - ISRAELE - 15 Aprile 2012. Oggi ha inizio la spedizione di 1500 attivisti non violenti, provenienti da 15 paesi differenti, che approderanno in Israele al fine di raggiungere Betlemme, in Palestina, per partecipare alla costruzione di un complesso scolastico. Ad attenderli alla mèta si contano anche svariati attori israeliani, contrari all'operato del loro governo. L'azione è tesa a criticare l'opera, priva di qualunque fondamento legale, di interrogatori e monitoraggio di coloro che vogliono entrare nel territorio di Israele. Solo dopo un'attenta analisi delle finalità del viaggio e dei dettagli della permanenza, l'esercito israeliano concede l'ingresso nel territorio. L'azione era già stata tentata l'anno scorso da 500 attivisti, bloccati però fin da subito dalle "liste nere" pervenute alle compagnie aeree, contribuendo ad aumentare il significato di questo secondo tentativo.
ISRAEL - 15th April 2012. Today starts the expedition of 1500 non-violent activists, coming from 15 different countries, that will land in Israel, throught which aiming to reach Bethlehem, in Palestine, to participate to the construction of a scholastical complex. There'll be several israelian actors waiting for the activists, protesting against the poilicies of their government. The action is aimed to criticize the action, whithout any legal background, of questioning an monitoring those who want to enter in the israelian territory. Only after an accurate analysis of the trip aim and details, the israelian Army gives the permission of entering in the State. The action was already tried by 500 activists the last year, but they've been blocked by the "black lists" arrived to the airlines, contributing to give a stronger meaning of this second attempt.


2 - TURCHIA - 14 Aprile 2012. Le potenze mondiali e l'Iran hanno dato il via a una nuova tornata di negoziati a Istanbul quest'oggi, mirando a risolvere l'annosa disputa riguardo al programma nucleare portato avanti da Teheran che minaccia di far esplodere una nuova guerra nel Medio Oriente. "I delegati sono entrati, l'assemblea plenaria è appena cominciata", ha detto un diplomatico vicino ai negozianti. i diplomatici dicono che la manovra, la prima in 15 mesi, non risulterà essere una svolta importante, ma offre la possibilità di riprendere il dialogo e scoraggiare l'ipotesi che Israele potrebbe lanciare offensive militari per impedire che il suo nemico possa acquisire armamenti nucleari. il prezzo globale del carburante è salito tra crescenti tensioni riguardo al programma nucleare, che l'Iran continua a dichiarare essere finalizzato a "scopi pacifici".

TURKEY - 14th April 2012. World powers and Iran launched a new round of negotiations in Istanbul on Saturday, aiming to resolve a long-standing dispute over Tehran's nuclear programme that threatens to spark a new war in the Middle East. "Delegates have gone in, plenary is just getting started," a diplomat close to the negotiations said. Diplomats say the round, the first in 15 months, is unlikely to result in a major breakthrough but offers a chance to resume dialogue and dampen speculation that Israel might launch military strikes to prevent its arch enemy from acquiring nuclear arms. Global fuel prices have risen this year amid deepening tensions over the nuclear programme, which Iran says is for peaceful purposes.

Il premier e il presidente ad interim della Guinea Bissau, Carlos Gomes Jr. e Raimundo Pereira, sono stati arrestati dai militari che hanno compiuto un colpo di stato la scorsa notte, mentre erano in corso le elezioni presidenziali. Le forze armate, che sostengono di non avere "ambizioni di potere", hanno detto di essere state "costrette ad intervenire per difendersi dalle manovre del governo", che voleva farle "eliminare da una forza militare straniera". Non si segnalano scontri né vittime.

GUINEA BISSAU - 13th April 2012. The premier and the interim president of Guinea Bissau, Carlos Gomes Jr. e Raimundo Pereira, have been arrested by soldiers that have committed a coup d'etat the last night, while the presidential elections were running. The armed forces, substaining of "not having power ambitions", have said of being "constricted to intervene to defend themselves from the government moves", that wanted to "eliminate them from a foreign military force". nor victims neither fightings have been registered.


4 - SUDAN - 12 Aprile 2012. Oggi la città di Bentiu, capitale dello Stato sud sudanese di Unità, ricco di petrolio, è stata bombardata. Secondo Atem Yaak Atem, viceministro dell'Informazione, “almeno cinque bombe” hanno preso di mira il ponte che collega la città con il nord, con l’intento di “provocare una guerra”. Al momento non sono segnalate vittime. A Juba intanto il presidente sud sudanese Salva Kiir ha annunciato che non ritirerà il proprio esercito dalla zona petrolifera contesa di Heglig, presa ieri dall’esercito sudanese, e invierà le forze di Juba nell’Abyei se le Nazioni Unite non evacueranno le truppe di Khartoum da tutta l’area. Il numero uno del Palazzo di Vetro Ban Ki-Moon ha invitato il presidente sud sudanese a considerare la possibilità di organizzare immediatamente un vertice con l’omologo sudanese Omar Hassan Ahmad al Bashir, per stabilire subito una situazione di pace.

The UN Secretary Ban Ki-Moon has invited the president Kir to consider the possibility of organizing an immediate dialogue between the Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmad al Bashir, to estabilish maintenanly a peaceful situation.


5 - IRAQ - 11 Aprile 2012. Dei militanti che hanno preso di mira alcune famiglie Sciite nella provincia di Diyala a nord della capitale irachena hanno ucciso cinque persone ferendone altre sei, avendo piazzato le bombe attorno alle loro abitazioni, hanno detto donti provenienti dal personale di sicurezza. Le fonti hanno dichiarato che gli attacchi sono avvenuti dopo che sono stati distribuiti dei volantini a varie case abitate da Sciiti Musulmani nel centro di Baquba, intimandogli di lasciare l'area altrimenti sarebbero stati uccisi. le violenze in Iraq sono nettamente diminuite rispetto agli apici raggiunti dalle lotte settarie del 2006-07, ma i bombardamenti e le uccisioni sono ancora all'ordine del giorno, la cui maggioranza è destinata agli Arabi Sunniti che hanno rifiutato di sottomettersi alle armi dopo il ritiro delle truppe statunitensi del Dicembre scorso.
IRAQ - 11th April 2012. Militants targeting Shi'ite families in the Diyala province in the north of Iraq's capital killed five people and wounded six others when they set off bombs around their houses, local security sources said on Wednesday. The sources said the attacks took place after leaflets were distributed to several houses belonging to Shi'ite Muslims in central Baquba, telling them to leave the area or they would be killed.
Violence in Iraq has dropped sharply since the height of sectarian fighting in 2006-7 but bombings and killings still occur daily, with most attacks blamed on Sunni Arab militants who have refused to lay down arms since the withdrawal of U.S. troops last December.

Il traballante "cessate il fuoco" imposto alla Siria dalle Nazioni Unite è stato infranto in vari punti, soprattutto nella città di Homs, con un bilancio di 31 morti fra i rivoltosi e 6 soldati regolari. lo stesso segretario generale dell'ONU ha dichiarato la situazione "dominata dal caos", là dove il presidente Bashar Al-Assad vorrebbe promuovere una costituzione riportante diritti inesistenti per il popolo siriano. la guerra civile che infuria da 13 mesi non accenna a diminuire d'intensità, e le manifestazioni antigovernative continuano a provocare morti su morti.
SYRIA - 10th April 2012. The unsteady cease-fire imposed to Syria from the UN has been broken in several points, most of all in the city of Homs, with a balance of 31 dead rebels and 6 soldiers. the General Secretary of the UN has declared the situation "dominated by the caos", in the Country where the President Bashar Al-Assad would promote a Constitution in which are declared rights completely unexisting for the syrian people. the civil war that's continuing since 13 months doesn't seem to be dropping intensity, and the anti-governative protests are keeping on provoking deaths after deaths.

1 - YEMEN - 12 Marzo 2012. Continuano senza sosta gli attacchi americani nei vari Stati del Medioriente utilizzando i droni. La caccia a presunti covi di terroristi a suon di bombardamenti questa volta si è spostata in Yemen, dove per tre giorni si sono susseguiti raid che hanno causato 64 morti sospettati di essere militanti di Al Qaida. Gli obiettivi sono stati soprattutto presunti depositi di munizioni, tuttavia inevitabilmente anche diversi civili hanno trovato la morte sotto le bombe. Gli attacchi si sono concentrati soprattutto nella regione di Jaar, nella provincia meridionale di Abyan.

YEMEN - 12th March 2012. American attacks continue unabated in various states of the Middle East using the drones. This time the hunt for suspected hideouts of terrorists has arrived to Yemen, where for three days there have being raids which caused 64 deaths suspected to be militants of Al Qaeda. The targets have been mainly ammunition dumps, but inevitably many civilians have died under the bombs. The attacks were concentrated in the region of Jaar, in the southern province of Abyan.

2 - MALI - 13 Marzo 2012. I ribelli Tuareg del Movimento Nazionale per la Liberazione dell'Azawad (Mnla) hanno conquistato la città Amachach, a Tessalit, nel nord del Paese. La città ha un valore strategico di fondamentale importanza, avendo un aeroporto ed aprendo le strade ad un’offensiva contro Kidal, centro nevralgico della regione. La ribellione è iniziata ad inizio anno e ha come obiettivo l'indipendenza della parte settentrionale del Paese dal governo centrale di Bamako, la capitale. L'offensiva ha colto impreparate le forze governative in un Paese a pochi mesi dalle elezioni, tanto da raggiungere grandi successi contando su uomini ben addestrati appartenuti all'esercito di Gheddafi e su armi provenienti dalla Libia.

MALI - 13th March 2012. The Tuareg rebels of the National Movement for the Liberation dell'Azawad (Mnla) have conquered the city Amachach at Tessalit, in the north of the country. This city has a strategic value of fundamental importance, having an airport and opening the roads for an offensive against Kidal, the nerve center of the region. The rebellion began earlier this year and his objective is the independence of the northern part of the country by the central government in Bamako, the capital city. The offensive has caught unprepared government forces, in a country where in a few months there will be elections, so it has achieved great success using well-trained men belonged to the army of Gaddafi and arms from Libya.

3 - SOMALIA - 14 Marzo 2012. Nella capitale Mogadiscio si è verificata un'esplosione nei pressi del palazzo presidenziale, causata da un attentatore suicida appartenente al gruppo ribelle degli Shabaab. Questo è un gruppo insurrezionale islamista che punta all'introduzione della shari'a come legge di stato ed al rovesciamento del governo in carica attraverso attacchi terroristici, come quello rivendicato oggi. I portavoce dei ribelli annunciano altre azioni violente e si dichiarano pienamente soddisfatti di aver raggiunto il palazzo presidenziale. Il bilancio delle vittime si aggira intorno ai 10 morti.

SOMALIA- 14th March 2012. In the capital city, Mogadiscio, an explosion deflagrated next to the presidential palace, caused by a suicide attempter member of the rebel's group called Al Shabaab. this is an islamic revolutionary group that aims to the introducion of the shari'a as state law and to knock over the government in charge throught terroristic raids, as the one revenged today. the spokesmen of the rebels declare that in the future other violent episodes will happen and that they're deeply satisfied of having reached the presidential palace. the balance of the victims is around the number of 10 bodies.

4 - ETIOPIA - 15 Marzo 2012. Il governo etiope di Addis Abeba ha annunciato di aver attaccato “campi di addestramento di sovversivi” in territorio eritreo, accusando il governo di Asmara di addestrare terroristi affinchè compiano attacchi sul proprio territorio. I raid si sono verificati a circa 16 chilometri dal confine tra Etiopia ed Eritrea, esattamente nelle regioni di Gelakalay e Gimbina, in risposta ad un attentato avvenuto in territorio etiope il 18 Gennaio scorso che ha causato la morte di 5 turisti. L'Eritrea è guidata da un governo molto autoritario già da 20 anni ed è accusata di sostenere anche i ribelli somali di al Shabaab. Tra Etiopia ed Eritrea da sempre la tensione è molto alta, dopo una guerra che ha causato circa 80.000 morti, tanto che persino gli USA hanno invitato alla calma ed a non intraprendere altre azioni per evitare il rischio che possano riemergere dei conflitti.

ETHIOPIA- 15th March 2012. the ethiopian government has announced his wish of attacking "riot training camps" in eritrean territory, accusing the Asmara government of training terrorists to score raids in Ethiopian territory. the raids have taken place around-16 kms far from the board between Ethiopia and Eritrea, precisely in the regions of Gelakalay and Gimbina, as reply to an attempt happened in ethiopian territory the 18th of January 2012, that caused the death of 5 tourists. Eritrea is being led by such an authoritarian government for 20 years and is accused to support the somalian rebels of Al Shabaab. between Ethiopia and Eritrea the relations are so strained that, after a war that caused about 80.000 deads, USA too suggested to keep calm and not to do any kind of actions to avoid the risk of digging out sleepy coflicts.

5 - AFGHANISTAN - 16 Marzo 2012. A Kabul un elicottero della Nato precipita su una casa nell'area di Hussainkhel del quartiere Bagrami. Sembra che il mezzo abbia subito problemi tecnici e che non ci sia stato un attentato, come era stato dichiarato inizialmente. Il bilancio è di 12 soldati turchi morti e diversi civili rimasti uccisi e feriti nell'incidente. Il governo di Ankara ha chiesto di fare luce sulla vicenda.

AFGHANISTAN - 16th March 2012. in the capital Kabul, an helicopter of the NATO fell down on a house in the zone of Hussainkel in the Bagrami quarter. looks like the aircraft suffered technical problems and so the suspect of attempting is far, as initially declared. the balance reports 12 turkish soldiers and some civils dead in the accident. the Ankara government asked to throw light on what happened.

6 - TIMOR EST - 17 Marzo 2012. Nella piccola nazione del sud-est asiatico, indipendente da 10 anni dall'Indonesia, si sono svolte oggi le elezioni per eleggere il nuovo presidente. Nonostante i timori della vigilia, non si sono registrati incidenti o denunce di brogli e circa un milione di persone si sono recate ai seggi. Il presidente uscente, il Premio Nobel per la Pace del 1996 Ramos Horta, si è rivelato sconfitto e la vittoria sarà contesa tra Francisco 'Lu Olo' Guterres, leader della prima forza di opposizione del Paese ed il generale Taur Matan Rua, ex capo delle Forze armate, considerato in vantaggio per la sua figura di “uomo forte” della nazione, essendo considerato da tutti un eroe in grado di garantire stabilità ad un Paese in fase di democratizzazione.

7 - GUINEA BISSAU - 18 Marzo 2012. A seguito della morte nel Gennaio scorso del presidente Malam Bacai Sanha a seguito di una lunga malattia, oggi si vota in tutto il Paese per eleggere il nuovo presidente. Per l'occasione tutte le frontiere del Paese sono state chiuse per evitare rischi di incidenti. Circa 593 mila persone sono chiamate al voto in un Paese che è considerato uno dei crocevia internazionali del traffico di droga. Proprio questo tema è stato al centro della campagna elettorale ed il candidato Kumba Yala, considerato favorito, fa della lotta al narcotraffico una bandiera del suo programma. "Vogliamo dare alla gente la speranza che ha perso e intensificare la lotta contro la corruzione e i trafficanti di droga", dichiara il suo portavoce.

For the occasion all the country's borders were closed to avoid accidents. Approximately 593.000 people will vote in a country that is considered a crossroads of international drug trafficking. This theme has been the focus of the electoral campaign and the candidate Kumba Yala, considered the favorite, makes the fight against drug trafficking a banner of his program. "We want to give people who lost hope and intensify the fight against corruption and drug traffickers," said his spokesman.
